Who We Are
The pilgrimage of Our Lady of Christendom – Portugal is an annual pilgrimage to the Shrine of Fátima, organised by a group of lay Catholics devoted to the Traditional Holy Mass. It takes place around 12 October, the eve of the anniversary of Our Lady's last apparition at Fátima (the Miracle of the Sun).
About the Pilgrimage
Mission and Objective
This pilgrimage was born from a profound desire to make known, or rediscover, the Holy Tradition of the Church in Portugal. Our country was once a central instrument in the hands of Our Lady for the evangelisation of the world. Our great goal is that Portugal may once more assume that role in the service of Our Lady and the Holy Church.
Our Lady, at Fátima, promised that in Portugal «the dogma of the faith will always be preserved.» That promise was not given so that we may rest comfortably, but precisely so that we commit ourselves ever more to evangelisation, offering prayers, sacrifices and mortifications for our Homeland and for the Holy Father.

Roots
The History of
Nossa Senhora da Cristandade
The first pilgrimage of Chartres
In 1983, a group of young French Catholics began a pilgrimage from Paris to Chartres in the spirit of apostolic tradition. What began as a small gesture became, decades later, the largest youth pilgrimage in Europe.
Nuestra Señora de la Cristiandad — Luján
In 2010, the Nuestra Señora de la Cristiandad pilgrimage was born in Argentina, journeying to the celebrated Shrine of Luján. Gathering faithful devoted to the liturgical Tradition, it extends the movement to the American continent.
Nuestra Señora de la Cristiandad — Covadonga
In 2021, a pilgrimage of Nuestra Señora de la Cristiandad was established in Spain, heading to the historic Shrine of Covadonga in Asturias — cradle of the Christian Reconquista and symbol of Iberian faith.
The Portuguese awakening
Inspired by the French example and the growing thirst for tradition among young Portuguese Catholics, the vision of a similar pilgrimage on Portuguese soil is born, under the patronage of Our Lady.
From Rome to Subiaco
In 2026, a new pilgrimage is born from Rome to Subiaco, following the paths of Saint Benedict — father of Western monasticism — from the Eternal City to the cave where the Saint lived in penance and from which Benedictine spirituality sprang.
Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Christendom
With the support of laypeople and priests devoted to the liturgical tradition, the second Portuguese edition of the pilgrimage takes place, gathering faithful of all ages.
